Book Review Kubernetes for Serverless Applications

Kubernetes for Serverless Applications by Russ McKendrick

Today I completed studying this book, some of the chapters I skimmed through it and few I studied in detailed.

My takeaways in this book are:

  • You will get a good understanding of the word “Serverless”, which is a solution approach
  • Provided very good briefing on Kubernetes architecture components (master and odes)
  • Covered various serverless tools like Kubeless, OpenFaas, OpenWhisk, Funktion
  • This is a Hands-on book wit some basic example that is good enough for someone studying this book, whose goal is to understand the concepts and also obtain a broader view of serverless tools
  • Hands-on code did work for me and there were no issues

Most highlight of this book for me is coverage of various Serverless tools. Me, as an Architect, having a broader understanding of such tools will be helpful because I can mention them in my solution architecture while doing consulting.

I studied this book through www.packtpub.com monthly subscription.
