Enterprise Architecture – Key Terms – Multi-Cloud vs Multiple Cloud

In today’s world, we used the term “multi-cloud” very loosely. “Multi-Cloud” is different from “Multiple-Cloud”

Multi-Cloud” means the ability to adapt various cloud solutions across various cloud providers within a single application. We don’t live in “multi-cloud” environments practically. Having the ability to move workloads seamlessly from on-premise to cloud OR cloud to on-premise of the same application is a “Multi-Cloud” solution.

Multiple-Cloud” means cloud solutions work independently and they do not talk to each other. The workloads do not move seamlessly from on-premise to cloud OR cloud to on-premise. We actually live in the world of “Multiple-Cloud”
